The Echo Plus earns its 'Plus' with a Zigbee smart-home hub built directly into the speaker — connect compatible bulbs, plugs and sensors without buying separate bridges. For a first smart-home step in Kenya, that simplification matters.
As a speaker it's solid rather than spectacular: the 3-inch woofer and 0.8-inch tweeter fill a room nicely, handle Afro-pop and gospel with warmth, and get loud enough for a medium living room. Voice control for music, news, alarms and questions works reliably.
Worth knowing: Amazon discontinued the Plus line, so you're buying remaining stock — which often means good prices. Alexa works fine in Kenya, though a few region-locked features need a US/UK account region.
