Oppo K1

Best for: Anyone wanting an in-display fingerprint AMOLED phone on a small budget

One of the cheapest ways to get an AMOLED screen and in-display fingerprint sensor — the K1 still offers a lot of screen tech for very little money on the pre-owned market.

Our verdict

A smart clearance-bin find — flagship screen tech at second-hand prices, as long as you accept its age.

What we like

  • AMOLED screen at rock-bottom prices
  • In-display fingerprint is still unusual here
  • Strong selfie camera
  • Lightweight and comfortable

Worth knowing

  • Older model — no more software updates
  • Micro-USB, not USB-C
  • Used units need battery-health check

The full review

The Oppo K1 made its name bringing flagship screen technology to budget buyers: a proper AMOLED panel and an in-display fingerprint sensor, at a price where rivals shipped basic LCDs and rear scanners. On the used and clearance market today that still makes it a compelling spare phone or first smartphone.

The Snapdragon 660 is old but competent — WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and mobile banking all run fine. The 6.4-inch display still looks vibrant, and the 25MP selfie camera was a genuine selling point at launch.

Be realistic about the compromises: it's an older model, so software updates have ended, and battery health on used units varies. Check the listing's condition grade and return policy.

Questions

Common questions

Is the Oppo K1 still worth buying?

As a backup phone, kids' first phone, or the cheapest-possible AMOLED screen — yes. As a primary phone for years of use, a newer model like the A57 is safer.
